Humanities studies have been at the heart of Walla Walla University since its early days in the late 19th century, when at one time or another most students studied Latin and logic. Today, the Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies major builds on this strong tradition while providing a unique and flexible course of study that prepares students for a dynamic and complex world.
The major is designed especially for students who want to combine their studies in science, technology, or the professions with training in the humanities. By integrating training in writing, critical thinking, and the humanities with professional and technical training, graduates from this program will be attractive to employers and exceptionally well prepared for graduate school, medical school, law school, etc.

You will work closely with faculty mentors in different disciplines.
With guidance from faculty mentors you will be able to develop an academic plan and major that specifically promotes your long-term goals. By crafting an interdisciplinary curriculum you can combine various fields of study that are often difficult to integrate in a university curriculum. Students can combine study in the humanities with pre-medicine, prelaw, business, technology, or a variety of other professional and scientific programs of study. The entire schedule of WWU course offerings is yours to explore as you and your mentor design a coherent and academically rigorous program of study that serves your interests and goals.
The program maintains a close affiliation with the Middlebury Schools Abroad and the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, both with locations around the world, including Oxford University. The credits you earn abroad are easily incorporated into this major.
